Mangia! Mangia! is a cookbook written and published by Nadia Nascimben ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information when you visit this website, reserve or buy a copy of the book, attend our book launch or contact us.
We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its 10 fair information principles. By using this website or giving us your personal information, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Accountability
Nadia Nascimben is responsible for protecting personal information collected through this website and acts as our Privacy Officer. Questions, requests and complaints can be sent to:

2. What personal information we collect
Information you give us:

Reservations and orders: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, number of copies and any dedication you request

Dedications: any names or messages you ask us to write in your book, which may include information about other people (please share only what you have permission to share)

Messages: anything you send us by email or through the website

Book launch: your name and RSVP details if you register for the event
Information collected automatically:
When you visit the website, our platform (Wix) and any analytics tools may collect your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, time spent on the site and how you arrived. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 9).
Payment information:
If you pay online, payments are processed by a third-party payment processor such as Wix Payments, Stripe or PayPal. We do not see, receive or store your full credit card or banking details.
We collect only the information we need for the purposes below.
3. Why we collect it
We use your personal information to:

We will not use your information for any other purpose without asking for your consent first, unless the law permits or requires it.
4. Consent
We collect, use and disclose personal information only with your consent, except where the law allows otherwise.

Express consent: we ask for this clearly, for example through a checkbox, before we send you marketing or promotional emails.

Implied consent: when you place an order, you agree that we may use your information to complete it, such as sharing your address with the shipping carrier.
Withdrawing consent: you can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by emailing nadia123@rogers.com. If you withdraw consent needed to fulfil an order, we may not be able to complete it.
5. Email communications (CASL)
We follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We send promotional emails only to people who have agreed to receive them. Every promotional email identifies us, includes our contact information and has an easy way to unsubscribe. We act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.
Messages about an order you placed, such as confirmations, shipping updates and refunds, are not promotional, and we may send them even if you have unsubscribed from marketing.
6. Who we share your information with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
We share it only as needed with trusted service providers who help us run this website and fulfil orders, including:

Our payment processor, to handle online payments

Shipping carriers such as Canada Post, to deliver your book

Email service providers, to send order and news emails
These providers may use your information only to perform services for us and must protect it.
We may also disclose personal information:

if the Mangia! Mangia! book or business is sold or transferred, in which case the new owner must protect your information in the same way
7. Storage outside Canada
Some of our service providers, including Wix and payment processors, store and process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States and other countries. Your information may therefore be subject to the laws of those countries and accessible to their authorities. We choose providers who use strong security protections.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy:

Order and payment records: 6 years, as required by the Canada Revenue Agency

Reservations that are not completed: deleted within 12 months

Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe
After that, we securely delete or anonymize it.
9. Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies, small files saved on your device, to make the site work, remember your preferences and understand how visitors use it. Some cookies are set by Wix and by analytics or social media tools.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some parts of the website may not work properly.
10. Keeping your information safe
We protect personal information with reasonable safeguards, including:

No method of sending or storing information online is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a breach of security involving your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as required by PIPEDA. We will also keep a record of any breach.
12. Accuracy
We work to keep your information accurate and up to date. Please tell us if your contact or shipping details change.
13. Your rights
You have the right to:

14. Book launch and events
If you attend our book launch, photos or video may be taken and shared on this website or our social media. We will tell attendees at the event. If you do not want to appear in photos, please let us know, and we will remove any image of you on request.
15. Children
This website is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
16. Links to other websites
This website may link to other sites, such as social media or retailers. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If we make significant changes, we will tell customers by email or through a notice on the website.
